| Li Zhaoxing Meets with His Counterpart from South Africa |

On September 29, 2004, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing met with Foreign Minister of South Africa, Miss Zuma and the two exchanged views on further development of bilateral relations and strengthening the cooperation in multilateral arena.
Li said that China and South Africa are both developing countries which can enhance the communication and coordination in the Non-Aligned and the G-77 as well as advocate multilateralism together and enhance the role and authority of the UN. Li thanked South Africa for its firm support on issues like Taiwan and human rights. Meanwhile he hoped that South Africa take effective measures to protect the interest of Chinese citizens in South Africa. Zuma expressed that South Africa attaches importance to the relations with China. She also said that South Africa value highly and will strengthen the protection on the safety of life and assets of the Chinese citizens in South Africa.
